Ready, Set, Go!!!!!!

Where has this year gone? It’s hard to believe we’re already half way through the month of May and that there are only 19 days left of school after today, and two of those are half days!!!While the school year is slowing down, things are starting to pick up here at the library, and we thought now might be a good time to send out a reminder of the things we have upcoming. So sit back and hold on, because this is a long list……

Friday, May 19th – Preschool Story Class Graduation will be held from 11 till 1 over at the borough park. If it rains, we will still run from 11 till 1, only in our normal location downstairs at the library. The library will be providing pizza and drinks for the kids, as well as Diplomas for those who will be moving on to Kindergarten in the fall.

Saturday, May 20th – W.A.Y.S. will be holding their final scheduled day of soccer sign-ups from 9 until noon. Registration is $30 for the first child, and $25 for each additional child.

Saturday, May 20th – LEGO Club for those in 4th grade and up (no upper age limit) will be held downstairs from noon until 2.

Monday, May 22nd – LEGO Club for preschoolers will be held in the upstairs children’s room from 10 until 11.

Monday, May 22nd – LEGO Club for those in grades K through 3 will be held in the downstairs children’s area from 3:45 through 5:15.

Monday, June 5 – Join Professor John from 6 till 7 and introduce yourself to the work of Coding. With the ever increasing role of computer technology in our lives, do you know enough about coding, or the importance of it? How about the opportunities and benefits that learning coding can provide to your children? Don’t let it intimidate you!!! This  Coding class is for adults and is free and open to all – please come and listen to Professor John as he explains what coding is, and why your child should know how to do it.

Sunday, June 11th – we will be holding our 1st Annual Car Show at the Tuscarora Wayne Field (the old Wyalusing Elementary School lot), from 1 till 4. Currently we have 1 food truck, 14 vendors and a handful of cars pre-registered, plus many more who have stated that they will be bringing their vehicles to show. Please come on out and join us for what should be a fun event. This will be a sunshine only event, so keep in mind, if it rains, the show will not go on.

Tuesday, June 13th through Monday, August 21st, we will be holding a Kid’s Summer Reading Challenge. This takes the place of the normal Summer Reading logs typically done in the past for the kids. Cathy will be using the numbers from this reading challenge for the annual state report. At the end of the challenge, 1 child in each grade level (preschool through 12th grade) will be chosen to pick an incoming book to put their name in, as winner of the 2017 Kids Summer Reading Challenge. Once the forms are printed, they can be picked up at the front desk at the library.

Friday, June 23rd – Local children’s author, Maureen Wright, will be a the library from 10 until 11, with her two new books: Share, Big Bear, Share! and Anna and the Tooth Fairy. Maureen will be providing a color / craft sheet for preschool age children.

This is just the beginning, so stay tuned…… the Summer Fun schedule is in the works, and will be released soon. We are doing things a little differently here at the library this year, but we have a lot of fun programs coming in for you.
