NoveList in POWER Library

Policies

Internet Access:

 1. Individuals desiring to go on the Internet at the Wyalusing Public Library must be adults, or students 14-18 years of age with their parent's or legal guardian's written permission. Students younger than 14 may use the Internet with their parent at the computer.

2. Users must complete a brief validation before going on the Internet.

3. The Internet shall be available anytime the library is open, on a first-come basis, with no reservations taken except for a class.

4. The time limit for a user will be one hour if there are people waiting for a turn.

5. Users will not send or receive email through the library's email address but private email accounts are acceptable.

6. Users may not use their own software or disks on the library's computers. Free disks for library use are available to patrons at the circulation desk.

7. Users may not change the preference settings in the browser or tamper with computer or printer settings.

8. According to the amended electronic Privacy Act of 1986 and the Communications Decency Act of 1996, users are required to:
avoid disruptive use of other networks and actions that destroy other's hardware and software; hacking into another's computer is a felony. refrain from bringing up pornography on the library's computers; the consequence is the user's permanent banning. not to plot against the government, abide by copyright laws, not impersonate another person

9. Librarians reserve the right to review a computer user's history.

10. Printing from the computer costs $.25 for black and white copies and $.50 for color.

11. Misuse of the internet will result in the user's access privileges being revoked. Any illegal activities will be reported tot he appropriate agencies.

12. Users are responsible for reading and following these rules.

Videos and DVDs:

 1. Up to four videos and DVDs may be checked out at a time by an adult (at least 18 years old).

2. Videos and DVDs must be returned inside the library or in the labeled slot at the top of the stairs. They may not be returned in the steel book drop at the bottom of the stairs.

3. Fines for overdue videos and DVDs are $1.00 per title per day.

4. Patrons will be charged the full current retail price for any video or DVD which is lost or damaged, plus a $5.00 processing fee.

5. A borrowing agreement must be signed in the presence of a librarian before videos or DVDs can be checked out.

 

Materials Purchase and Donations:

Materials shall be selected by the Library Director, using her professional expertise and standard book reviews. Ours is a user-centered, popular collection. Books are selected to fill information gaps, update existing collections, and provide popular, current titles. Patron requests are filled through purchase or inter-library loan. The library reserves the right to make disposition of all materials received.

For donations, the director uses the same standards which apply to purchased materials. We welcome clean and presentable materials. 2. If donated material is added to the library collection, the library reserves the right to classify and arrange the materials in whatever fashion is most in keeping with the library's needs. The donor may not restrict access to, use of, or placement of donated materials. Once added to the collection, donated materials will be subject to the regular retention procedures. 3. Books that are damaged, mildewed, water-stained, or underlined can not be accepted. We cannot use Reader's Digest Condensed Books, textbooks, or magazines. 4. The library does not provide an appraisal service, suggest value, recommend professional appraisers, nor provide lists of donated materials. 5. Receipts for the number of items donated are available upon request.
